Services

Hilary Garrett specializes in treating women and men with musculoskeletal problems, bladder health problems, pelvic pain, and associated sexual dysfunction. I provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunctions associated with the pelvic girdle, pelvic floor, spine, and extremities.

Typical patient concerns might include pain in the abdominal or pelvic regions whose origin appears to be soft tissues and nerves, post-surgical pain due to decreased mobility, incontinence of urine or feces, and voiding urgency. Other related problems may include low back or hip pain, fibromyalgia syndrome, sciatica, and musculoskeletal dysfunctions associated with pregnancy or childbirth.

Physical Therapy services I offer include:

  • Comprehensive evaluation of posture, mobility of spine and extremities, muscle strength/flexibility, pelvic floor muscle function.
  • Education on relationships between anatomy/physiology, dietary intake, posture/alignment, activity patterns, voiding habits, involvement of specific muscles, nerves, and visceral organs.
  • Biofeedback to retrain pelvic floor muscles for strengthening, relaxation, and coordination.
  • Bladder/bowel retraining to restore normal voiding patterns and decrease urge.
  • Manual Therapy Techniques such as soft tissue and joint mobilization, including techniques that can be performed by the patient in self-care.
  • Therapeutic modalities for pain relief such as ultrasound, heat/cold, electrical stimulation, TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation), relaxation techniques.
  • Ongoing follow-up communication with physician and patient regarding goals, progress, and outcomes.

I provide one-on-one, individualized care in a quiet and private setting. Your treatment hour is devoted to you. You are also welcome to bring a friend or family member for support and/or education.

On average, 6-8 visits are needed to achieve symptom reduction and independence in self-management of your symptoms. Visits may take place over a period of weeks or months.

My desire is to see patients successfully manage their symptoms with minimal reliance on medical practitioners. Your complete recovery is our goal, and we will work together to achieve it!

Please feel free to contact me with questions about my services.
